Eight tonnes of pan masala products seized from godowns in Coimbatore

More than eight tonnes of banned ghutka and pan masala products were seized in the city on Monday.

A team of seven Food safety officials led by R. Kathiravan, Designated Officer, Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department (Food Safety Wing), seized around ten lakh packets, costing around Rs. 10 lakh, from two godowns on Thomas Street.

Dr. Kathiravan said that the packets, which filled three lorries, were destroyed on Monday night at the Corporation Compost Yard at Vellalore.
