Education will mould the children to groom as good and responsible future citizens of the nation, said Mr. V. Arun Roy, Collector at Krishnagiri on Thursday.
Presiding over the ``Kalvi Valarchi Naal (Education Development Day) to mark the 106th birth day celebrations of the late Chief Minister Kamarajar at the Municipal Middle School in Krishnagiri, he said the late Kamarajar laid the foundation stone for the education in the state, as a result of which Tamilnadu becomes a forerunner among all other states in the country.
Kamarajar had changed the phenomenon of community-based profession through introduction of free education to the downtrodden. Responsibilities lie on the children to make use of the best infrastructural facilities and good atmosphere created by the government for education sector, Mr. Roy adds.
Mr. Roy also inaugurated a dedicated website created for the Municipal Middle School, Oldpet with the domain name as ``schoololdpet.com and distributed ``Student Safety Insurance Policy for a sum of Rs. 25,000 from United India Insurance Company Limited for twenty girl students in Class I free, uniforms and pet bottles to the students.

On the sidelines of the function Mr. Kulandei Francis, Director, Integrated Village Development Programme, a NGO based in Krishnagiri told The Hindu that the organization is donating 3600 pet bottles worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs and free Uniform sets to 320 childrens of Municipal Schools in Krishnagiri as part of their corporate social responsibility scheme.
M. Nagarajan, Headmaster welcomed the gathering. Ms. John Bakkiyam, Teacher proposed vote of thanks.
In Dharmapuri, Ms. P. Amutha, Collector presided over the ``Kalvi Valarchi Naal celebrations at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Karimangalam on Thursday.
She said, education should be tool to develop self-confidence, good thinking and self regulation among the children. Student should set a goal to improve themselves, the society around them and their native district. She exhorted the students to aim for the big. It was reported that the IAS, IPS and IFS officers selected from the state have rural back ground, hence, students should work hard during their school studies, as it is the only solution to succeed in life.
She exhorted the teachers to strive for hundred per cent success in public examinations during this academic year.
