Driver of container with money caught drunk

The driver of a container truck with coins for a few lakh rupees was caught for drunken driving at Gandhipuram on Wednesday. The traffic police said that the vehicle carried coins for Rs. 20 lakh from Chennai to three banks in Coimbatore.

The driver Srinivasan (53), from Adambakkam in Chennai, had delivered the coins to two banks and was heading to the third bank at Ram Nagar. It is learnt that the traffic police at Gandhipuram tried to stop the vehicle but he did not stop.

The police then managed to stop the vehicle and confirmed that the driver was drunk. A case was registered against him. The truck was taken from the place with an alternate driver.
