“I am very excited to be here”, said Imran Hussain, the judge for the dog show organised by South of India Kennel Club (SIKC) in Ooty.
Ideal venue
Mr. Hussain, a native of Karachi in Pakistan, was in Ooty for the first time. Comparing the venue of the dog show to a hilly region named Mari in Pakistan, he said the venue was ideal for the show.
Global repute
A dog show judge of global repute having displayed his mastery over the subject in places like the United Kingdom, U.S., Italy, Serbia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and China, Mr. Hussain said South of India Kennel Club's reputation was well-known and he was looking forward to be part of its show.
Reminiscing about the dog show that he participated while he was 10-years-old, Mr. Hussain said that his dog was adjudged the best in the show held in Bombay (now Mumbai).
And now after 51 years, he has returned to India to judge a show. He said “the dog scene in India is fantastic” and added that its future was bright.
With seniors donning the role of mentors, youngsters are taking over, he said.
The entry of native breeds like Rajapalayam is most welcome.
All over the world, dog shows are moving up the popularity ratings, Mr. Hussain said.
