April 10, 2013 12:16 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 01:03 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

A meeting of the Jama-aths at Karumbukkadai on Monday decided to ask the police and revenue administration to prevent frequent incidents of blocking roads as part of agitations.

A copy of the resolution was handed over to City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan and District Collector M. Karunagaran on Tuesday by representatives of the Jama-aths A. Abdul Jabbar of Sunnath Jama-ath, A.R. Basheer of United Jamaa-ath, and K.B. Kunju Mohammed of Kerala Muslims Jama-ath, and nearly 25 representatives.

The resolution said that it had become a common practice to stage demonstrations and block roads by a section of the members of minority community.

This was affecting the flow of traffic on the arterial road that connected the city with Pollachi and Palakkad. The tendency to cause hardships to the people was causing a bad name for minority community.
