The district administration reviewed the progress of the water supply distribution projects being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. District Collector Archana Patnaik visited the various projects here on Wednesday.
According to an official release, she inspected the 15 lakh litre-capacity overhead water tank construction at Marutham Nagar, the laying of a 35-km pipeline from Kumarapalayam to Palladam, the pipeline construction at the subway in Rawthar Street at Sulur and the tap installation at Padaguthurai in Sulur.
The Palladam pipeline will benefit 23 town panchayats and 965 village habitations and was being constructed at a cost of Rs. 224.92 crore.
Coimbatore Corporation, and the its 22 town panchayats along with 53 panchayats draw 125 million litres of water from the Pilloor Integrated Water Supply project.
The Collector also visited the TWAD Board’s Quality Construction Laboratory at Vilankuruchi. It analysed the quality of cement, stones, sand, pipes, iron and other construction materials.
