Differently abled persons seek pattas in Tirupur

A group of differently abled persons staged a sit-in protest on the Collectorate premises on Monday alleging official apathy to their grievances on various issues.

Faisa Ahamed, vice-president of Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers, told reporters that the petitions given by 65 differently abled persons seeking free house site pattas did not get reply from the officials for more than a year. “At least, 25 set of petitions had been given in the last one year to various officials,” he said. The differently abled people appealed to the officials to give jobs close to their houses.

Travel

“Many of them can not travel long distances due to disabilities. The jobs given at far off places will only compound the miseries of us,” they said.
