Coimbatore Diabetes Foundation has opened a Diabetes Village at Marudamalai near Coimbatore city. It will function as a lifestyle resort hospital, Managing Trustee of the foundation V. Sekar has said.
While hospitals normally dealt with acute care and management of complications, preventive care would be focus of Diabetes Village, a release from the hospital said. Managing life style diseases was a step beyond managing diseases alone.
“At our resort hospital, we stress more on life style modification of the affected individual rather than giving him just medical attention. This approach tends to help the patient for his life time rather than just managing for a while and making him run for help from doctor to doctor later,” the doctor said.
Overall physical and mental fitness and enriching the quality of life of the affected were the other objectives.
The centre offered diabetes treatment, diabetes master health check-up and management of all diabetic complications. It had an obesity clinic a state-of-the-art clinical laboratory and also focussed on hypertension, cholesterol and heart diseases.
On the lines of a gurukulam, the patients would dine, exercise and play with the medical team throughout the treatment. The following facilities are available in our hospital at affordable packages.
The centre would provide other facilities, including tracks for walking and jogging, swimming pool, tennis court, villas for treatment and rehabilitation, spas, meditation and yoga hall, music therapy and library.
