Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Pollachi V. Jayaraman on Thursday provided question-answer bank to the SSLC and HSLC students appearing for public examinations. This is the second successive year he is providing these to students.

“All that we expect is that the students should make use of this and do well in the examinations,” Mr. Jayaraman said.

Besides the question banks, he also organised motivational and memory recollection assistance sessions for the students at a function at Udumalpet, near Pollachi. The question banks contain not just important questions but also tips on higher studies.

The question bank will also explain to the students how to apply and get the forms for engineering or medical courses besides how to conduct themselves once they reach a college. As most of colleges are in urban locations, it will be a different experience for rural students, Mr. Jayaraman told The Hindu .

The students, especially those from rural areas, have a vital role to play in helping the State become a developed one in the future, he said, to explain why he was helping them out.

The free question banks would be distributed to a total of 7,000 students, including 4,000 from class X and the rest from Plus Two, from Government and aided schools in Pollachi and Udumalpet.

“The questions banks will also be given free of cost to anyone who approached us,” he added. He also pointed out that in a need-based approach, reprinting of the books would continue.

While only the questions were given in the books distributed last year, the answers were included this time following feedback from the students. The headmasters had reacted positively to the question bank given last time, added Mr. Jayaraman.

R. Vijayakumar, who spoke on motivation and memory recall techniques, handled a two-hour session for nearly 2,500 students, which was well-received. He also brought out several instances of students who managed to get over terrible accidents and personal tragedies to perform well in the board examinations.
