The city corporation has opened an alcohol de-addiction centre for its conservancy workers.

The corporation had identified 140 workers to be in need of immediate intervention, as a few of them have developed liver problems, as a consequence to excessive intake of alcohol, Ansul Mishra, corporation commissioner, said after launching the programme, on Monday.

A 10-bed de-addiction centre has been set up at Corporation Maternity Centre in the city and the workers would be put through the de-addiction process in batches of 10, he said.
