Corporation nurses stage protest in Coimbatore

February 12, 2014 12:34 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:38 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

Urban health nurses from the 20 Corporation maternity homes in the city staged a protest at the Corporation main office in Town Hall on Tuesday to register their opposition to comments made by a few senior officials.

According to sources, around 150 nurses gathered at the main office around 10.30 a.m. complaining that at the Saturday’s review meeting senior officials chided and accused them of not working at the expected level.

Though the senior officers had the right to hold them accountable for lapses, they should not be unreasonably harsh. The protestors made a representation to Deputy Commissioner S. Sivarasu, who had reportedly promised them that he would look into the issue.

They also said that they would meet the Mayor, S.M. Velusamy.
