In yet another technological intervention aimed at bringing about transparent administration, the Corporation has introduced a new facility in building plan approval.
According to Commissioner in-charge S. Sivarasu, applicants awaiting building plan approval will get to know the status of their applications through short message services as well as online.
At present, the applicants will have to provide softcopy of the building plan, which the Corporation will process using the Auto Development Control Rules software. If the plan is in conformity with the rules, the software will clear the same.
If not, it will reject it and furnish reasons for the rejection.
Mr. Sivarasu says that with the help of the Pune-based company that developed the software in 2009, the civic body has managed to tweak the software a bit to add the SMS-based service.
The Corporation will send the first message at the time of accepting the application, the second while the building plan approval is under scrutiny and the third after it has been either accepted or rejected.
If accepted, it will also convey the date of the Commissioner’s approval.
The applicants will also be able to track the status of their application online. The civic body has also initiated efforts for the same.
Mr. Sivarasu says that the SMS-based Auto DCR service is only the first in a series of facilities the civic body has planned.
The city residents can expect more from the Corporation in the coming days.
Only on Thursday he informed the Councillors at the Council that the Corporation will soon make birth and death certificates online.
He had said that the records till 2009 had been digitised and the service will be online from April 1.
