The Corporation has won the Skoch Order of Merit for its achievements on the solid waste management front. According to sources, the civic body won the award for segregation of waste at source and processing those at the ward level.
The Corporation had sometime ago implemented the zero waste management scheme in Ward 23 (a part of R.S. Puram) and extended to a ward each in the North, East, Central and South zones. The Corporation has won the award after competing with local bodies from across the country.
Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan will collect the award in New Delhi on Tuesday.
