The Coimbatore Corporation has mooted the need for a flyover on Avanashi Road, from the Lakshmi Mills Junction to SITRA Junction. The Corporation Council passed a resolution to this effect at the urgent meeting on Thursday, urging the Government agency concerned to prepare a detailed project report for approval from the State Government.

The Council also approved of a resolution asking for Rs. 100 crore as loan from the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited to repair 189.17 km of its roads in the city that were damaged due to the execution of underground drainage, storm water drain and other works.

The Council also decided to take up road repair work at a sum of Rs. 60 crore the State Government had sanctioned for the Coimbatore Corporation, as part of the Rs. 2,379-crore package for the civic body prior to the mayoral by-election.

The Council also decided to send proposals to the Director of Municipal Administration for street light maintenance in wards across the city.

The other important resolutions include appointing a transaction advisor to execute the multi-level car parking project in the city, building foot-over bridges at the Bharathi Park Road-Mettupalayam Road Junction and Hope College Junction and proposing a new foot-over bridge at the Ganapathy Junction on Sathyamangalam Road.
