The Coimbatore Consumer Products Distributors’ Association has organised Consumex-2009, an exhibition of consumer products, at Suguna Kalyana Mandapam here.
The event, which is the 15th edition, is on till August 16. According to P. Nandakumar, co-ordinator of the association, the fair has about 80 stalls. Consumer products that are used on a daily basis, from toothpastes and oil to mosquito repellents, are on display.
Some imported items such as biscuits and perfume and those made locally are also exhibited.
The association has about 200 members in the city. The event helps improve awareness among consumers on the new products available in the market. Some companies are launching new products at the fair. Special rates and gifts are available at the exhibition.
The organisers expect over a lakh visitors during the five days. Competitions for children and women, magic shows, dance programmes and cultural events will be held on all the five days, he says.

Mr. Nandakumar points out that the income from the fair is used by the Coimbatore Consumer Products Distributors’ Association and Trust to assist the staff of the members for the educational and medical needs of their family members. The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and entry is free.
