Residents in the foothills of Nagarmalai in the city demanded that drainage be constructed in the area so that sanitation is maintained.

In a petition to Mayor S. Soundappan during the grievance redress day meeting here on Tuesday, residents said that there are over 50 families living in the area. But in the absence of drains, sewage is let on road causing stagnation on road. This result in breeding of mosquitoes posing health risks to children and residents.

They said that despite households coming up, the facility was not available for many years now. They said that they had submitted many petitions to the Corporation demanding drainage facility, but no action has been taken so far.Likewise residents of many wards demanded drainage facility, cleaning of drains and submitted petitions to the Mayor.
