Kumar (45), a police constable, was reportedly found to be in an inebriated condition while on duty on Friday. An Assistant Commissioner of Police found him drunk while checking motorists for drunken driving on Friday night.

Employees of an IT firm at Saravanampatti that was closed down recently staged a demonstration near the South taluk office on Saturday seeking payment of their pending salary. They alleged that the company has not paid them as promised by the management during talks conducted by the labour officials.
