A day after a burning object was thrown into the office premises of former Union Minister R. Prabhu on Race Course Road here, the Congress party’s flagpoles were found damaged at four locations in the city on Saturday.

According to the Coimbatore City Police, the party's State vice-president R. Radhakrishnan had lodged a complaint with the Singanallur Police stating that unidentified persons had damaged the flag poles at Neelikonampalayam Bus Stop, Masakalipalayam, Uppilipalayam and Varadharajapuram.

He also complained that the persons behind the incident had also damaged the party’s flag at Masakalipalayam. There were reports of damage to poles in two more places in Peelamedu Police Station limits but the police denied the reports.

As the news spread, Congressmen led by former MLA S. Maheswari, Mr. Radhakrishnan, District Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M.C. Manoharan and party workers staged a protest on Masakalipalayam Road.

They wanted action against those who were behind the incident.
