Deaf Leaders, along with the Tamil Nadu State Federation of Deaf and All Districts Association and Organisation of the Deaf in Tamil Nadu, conducted the Tamil Nadu State Deaf Conference in the city on Sunday. The Deaf Leaders also celebrated its 10 anniversary on the occasion.
According to the organisers, Mayor S.M. Velusamy released the 10 th anniversary souvenir. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor K. Ramasamy received the first copy.
The organisers said that they presented awards to former students of schools for the hearing impaired who had secured school first ranks in Class X and XII examinations held in March this year. They also gave away prizes to students who had won the drawing competitions. In all, 60 students won prizes.
As part of the celebrations, they also presented awards to three teachers, including a prize for the best headmistress of a school for the hearing impaired. Two schools also received money for carrying out infrastructure development.
