Recruitment of teachers by the Teachers Recruitment Board in the middle of academic year would affect the students as well functioning of private schools, said the Federation of Associations of Private Schools in Tamil Nadu (FAPSIT) here on Sunday.
In a release issued by D.C. Elangovan, Secretary, FAPSIT, said that representatives of the federation called on Shabitha, Secretary, School Education, recently and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
Renewals
According to the representation, the FAPSIT wanted the government to complete the recruitment process before the academic year begins, so that it would not affect the smooth functioning of the private schools. If, recruitment process takes place in the middle of the academic year, the worst affected would be the students of private schools, FAPSIT lamented. The other demands of the federation were: schools which had completed 10 years be given permanent recognition and renewal of recognition for nursery and matriculation schools on a fast pace. Applications submitted for recognition by the private schools pending for over 15 years are pending had resulted in escalation of number of unrecognised schools.
Applications for recognition to over 1,000 schools were pending due to small land holdings of the schools. To end this menace, the government should arrange special camps in the regional offices by appointing a committee to look into these issues and ensure early issue of recognition.
Trimester system
The federation also urged the Government to announce in detail about the Trimester system to be introduced and also lesson plan, as it would help private schools and students plan their teaching and study plan.
Training courses
The federation was of the view that the government should conduct refresher training courses for the teachers from private schools. FAPSIT also urged the government to introduce peak hour exclusive free bus services for the benefit students as was being implemented by the Puducherry Government.
The federation demanded the Government to constitute a State and district-level Council headed by the Education Minister with representation of the correspondents, principals and officials of matriculation schools.
