Collector tells officials to ensure proper delivery of services

Collector T. Soundiah has asked the officials of Co-operative Department to continuously improve the delivery of services to the public through various co-operative societies in the district.

Participating at the Co-operative Week celebrations held in the district on Tuesday, the Collector said that the district was known in the State for its strong co-operative society system. A large number of milk co-operative societies, weavers' co-operative societies and agricultural marketing and credit societies were functioning in the district, extending a number of services to the people. Officials in the department should work closely with the people and ensure the proper delivery of services.

The State Government was implementing a number of welfare programmes through the Co-operative Department, the Collector said and asked the people to take full advantage of these programmes to enhance their quality of life. He appreciated the officials in various co-operative societies for their best performance.

Later, he distributed awards to the best performing co-operative institutions in Erode district. He also gave away prizes to the winners of elocution competition held as part of the celebrations. In the high school category, K. Ponsankar of AET Matriculation School bagged the first place. S.P. Pavithra from the same school secured the second place, while V. Vijayadurga of Vellalar HSS came third.

In the higher secondary category, Gokulnath of Sengunthar HSS came first, while the second place went to M. Prasad of the same school. K. Gomathi of Kalaimagal HSS secured the third place.
