October 19, 2011 08:37 pm | Updated August 02, 2016 03:52 pm IST - DHARMAPURI:

The District Election officer and Collector R. Lilly is one of those who did not cast their vote this local body elections in Dharmapuri.

Collectors of the district usually cast their vote at a booth in Erraalli village near Dharmapuri town.

Expecting Ms. Lilly to come and vote, a group of lens men and reporters had assembled at the booth in the morning, when the second phase of polling began.

But they were disappointed, as she went straight for inspecting some of the booths in other part of the district.

When asked, she told reporters that her vote was in Villivakkam in Chennai. She is yet to delete her name from there, and transfer it to Dharmapuri, where she joined on June 8 as the district's 37th Collector.

She assured that she would soon delete her name there and add it here, if she continued in the district, to be able to vote in the next election.

Ms. Lilly belongs to 1999 batch of Group I Service.
