Coimbatore students emerge State toppers in other languages

Even as Coimbatore failed to secure any official State rank yet again this year, students in the non-Tamil category have made the city proud by bagging several State top marks. Only those having Tamil as second language are accorded official recognition as toppers in the State.

The district topper in the other language category was K. Sumithra of G.D. Matriculation Higher Secondary School (MHSS) who secured 1,191 marks.

She had scored centum in core subjects - accountancy, commerce, business mathematics and economics, 198 in French and 193 in English. She also secured the State second rank in French.

N. Monisha of National Model MHSS, who stood district second with 1,190, got the State third rank in French by securing 198 marks.

While 198 was the top mark in French paper in Tamil Nadu, Sumithra and Monisha were ranked State second and third as their total was lower than the three toppers in French who had got 1,192 marks. The district third rank in non-Tamil category went to S. Nandhini of Metro MHSS, Mettupalayam. She had secured 1,188 marks.

Shraddha Malpani of Shri Nehru Vidyalaya MHSS got the State second rank in Hindi language with 198. Her total was 973.

The top two State ranks in German were bagged by Coimbatore school students. The State first rank in German language was secured by R. Vijayshree of G.D. MHSS who got 198. Her total was 1,187 marks.

The second rank went to K. Sowmya, also from the same school. She has also secured 198 marks in German. However, her total was 1,186.

All the top three State ranks in Nutrition and Dietetics went to students from the same school. R. Malathi (198), S. Anish Fathima (194) and T. Priya (190) were all from the Sri Avinashilingam Girls HSS here.

Sri Avinashilingam Girls HSS also got another state rank with D. Dhivyabharathi securing 197, the State second in Home science.

Vocational subjects

Coimbatore also bagged a few State ranks in vocational subjects with all top three State ranks in general machinist going to students from the city. J. Melba of SRSI MHSS, Karamadai, who shared the district third rank with a total of 1,185, came first in this subject with centum. While two State second rank holders of V. Ajit (1,179) of Vivekam MHSS, pres colony, and S. Madhureetha (1,179) of SVGV MHSS, Karamadai and the third rank holder G. Dharchana (1,169), also from SVGV MHSS, had also scored centum, their total was lower.

T. Gokulakannan of Palani Gounder HSS, Pollachi, secured State second in auto mechanic subject with 598 marks. His total was 1,103.
