Coimbatore police website hacked

December 15, 2013 10:59 am | Updated May 12, 2016 07:06 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Coimbatore City Police website on Saturday turned out to be a site for foot-tapping Arabic rap music after a hacker who identified himself as ‘Hero Man’ hacked the site.

A click on www.coimbatorecitypolice.com lead to a page that was dark in background with a picture of a skull, a logo and words ‘Hero Man’.

Beneath the picture were the words that said ‘Hacked by Hero Man’ followed by words in Arabic, an e-mail address, a PIN and a twitter handle.

Right at the bottom of the screen there was a scroll that said ‘All My Friend/And You Admin’.

This was the first time that the city police website had been hacked, said a senior police officer, who added that since afternoon they were working on repulsing the attack and restoring the website.

City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan promised to restore the website at the earliest.

A private player developed the website for the city police, which only maintained the server.
