Siddiq Ali was not at home during the close to three hour search.

He is the son of Syed Ahmed Basha, the prime accused in the serial bomb blast cases. In the first case, he had allegedly abducted the daughter of a realtor and had demanded Rs. 3 crore to release her. The following day, he was booked by the city police on a complaint that he and a few others tried to forcibly separate a couple after receiving bribe from the girl’s parents. The girl, daughter of a leading textile outlet owner in the city, fell in love with a boy, a dance master, and they had married on December 3.

Ali’s wife Salsageena (24) and sister Salma Mahzabeen (30) claimed that the police seized over a dozen documents and Rs. 1.38 lakh in cash.

Meanwhile, the police said that only a few documents were taken for inquiry.
