Coimbatore City Police have denied that their website was hacked.

According to City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan, the city police website, www.coimbatorecitypolice.com, was not hacked but it had come under malware attack.

The Commissioner said that the website was being maintained through two servers with as many operating systems.

One of the servers suffered a malware attack while one of the authorised officers tried to upload an image to update the website.

This resulted in the malware infecting the index page and corrupting several images on the site.

The police were at the job and hoped to restore the site in the next two days.
