To execute the work to link Pilloor II drinking water supply pipelines with the Aliyar drinking water supply pipelines and to replace water supply pipelines in Kavundampalayam, Vadavalli, the Corporation has got Rs. 11.13 crore from the State Government.
Scheme
The Government has sanctioned the funds under the Operation and Maintenance Gap Filling Fund and Infrastructure Gap Filling Fund.
According to sources in the Coimbatore Corporation, the civic body should utilise the funds to replace the pipelines in such a way that pipelines could be utilised to implement the 24x7 water supply scheme.
Of the 11.13 crore, the Corporation would utilise Rs. 7.13 crore to link the Pilloor II scheme pipelines with Aliyar scheme pipelines and replace pipelines in Kavundampalayam.
The Corporation had originally sought Rs. 10.17 crore for the purpose.
The Corporation would utilise the remaining Rs. 4 crore to improve pipelines in Vadavalli. The amount it had sought for from the Government was Rs. 6.70 crore.
Total amount
The sources said that the total amount the Corporation had sought for was Rs. 16.87 crore but the Government had sanctioned only Rs. 11.13 crore. The Corporation would meet the difference — Rs. 5.73 crore — from its Water Supply Fund.
They also said that the civic body would divide the work into five packages for easy execution.
The Corporation would send the proposal for executing the works to the office of the Commissioner for Municipal Administration to obtain administrative and technical sanction and only thereafter take up the work.
