After making available online the property tax payment system by tying up with banks and using payment gateways, the Coimbatore Corporation has now extended the online payment system for professional tax and dangerous and offensive trade licence fee payments.

Mayor S.M. Velusamy launched the system in the presence of Commissioner G. Latha, North Zone Chairman P. Rajkumar, West Zone Chairperson B. Savithri and a few councillors at the Corporation main office in Town Hall on Tuesday.

A press release said that individuals and firms could register online for paying the tax and fee by filling up the assessee registration form, which was available online at www.ccmc.gov.in

Upon successful registration, the users would use their user name and password sent by SMS. Existing assessees could also register using their assessment number. Once the users login, they could access ‘Form 2’, used for paying the tax. They should then fill in the details, declare the income slab applicable for the selected period to let the system calculate the tax payable. Firms could make professional tax payment for employees by having separate registration for employees. The system would display various income slabs applicable for professional tax. And, when the firms entered the number of employees working in each income slab, the system would calculate and display the professional tax payable.

The release also said that users could pay through credit card using ICICI Bank’s payment gateway. At the end of the payment process, users could collect the receipts generated. The users could also pay professional tax arrears.

As for paying for the D & O Licence, the users could follow a similar approach by accessing the Corporation’s website. The users should fill in the form meant for the licence, declare their trade type and subtype. The system would calculate the licence fee payable.

According to officials, the Corporation had 27,227 D & O Licence assessees and 41,190 professional tax assessees. The number of property tax assessments stood at 4,25,960. Of those 2,831 assessees paid their tax online in 2011-12 and 6,037 assessees availed of the online facility in 2012-13.
