CODISSIA welcomes CM’s announcements

Coimbatore District Small Industries’ Association (CODISSIA) has welcomed the announcements by the Chief Minister on Sunday on infrastructure development in the city.

These measures will boost the development of the city and improve the economy of the region, according to its president E.K. Ponnusamy.

The announcements on Sunday were related to development of multi-level car parking facilities, a new integrated bus terminal at Vellalore, new lorry stands, and improving basic infrastructure in the city.

These facilities will enable Coimbatore to play a stronger role in achieving the Chief Minister’s Vision 2023, he said.

Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore, K. Ilango, has said that the projects will help the expanded areas of the city that are in need of better infrastructure.

The measures should be implemented at the earliest and other infrastructure needs such as airport expansion and road projects should also be taken up.

According to K. Thirunavukarasu, president of South India Spinners’ Association, infrastructure works at a total cost of Rs. 1,004 crore were going on here and now more facilities are planned for the city.

These will meet the growing requirements of Coimbatore City.

Welcoming the announcements, the Coimbatore Tirupur District Micro and Cottage Entrepreneurs’ Association has said that flyovers should be constructed at Gandhipuram, Singanallur, Hope College, Ramanathapuram, Lakshmi Mills, and Ganapathy to ease traffic congestion in the city.
