Co-optex outlets in Coimbatore region, numbering 21, target ₹ 45 crore sales during the current financial year.
In 2016-2017, the total sales from this region was for ₹35 crore.
According to its regional manager R. Natarajan, demand for silk and pure silk sarees are going up. In 2015-2016 the region saw silk products sales to the tune of ₹ 7 crore and the next financial year it was ₹ 9.5 crore. This year, it is expected to be nearly ₹ 15 crore. “The demand is especially high for pure silk products,” he said.
There are new varieties of silk products launched every year by Co-optex. The potential for pure silk products is high in this region compared to other parts of the State. Between April and June last year, the sales of silk products was to the tune of ₹ 69 lakh and this year it is more than ₹75 lakh.
Co-optex has launched “Aadhi adhirshtam” sales, where customers can buy two products and get one free. This sales will be on till August 13. Sales through this scheme in the region last year was for ₹1.75 crore and this year it is expected to be ₹ 2.5 crore.
