Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, S. Suresh has been selected for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty.

The award, also known as the ‘Chief Minister’s Anna Award’, is announced to mark the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai on September 15.

Mr. Suresh is one of the 10 police officers in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)/Assistant Commissioner (AC) to receive the award in 2014.

He joined police service as a Sub-Inspector in 1987 batch.

He was a part of the special team that probed the murder of Police Constable Selvaraj and the resultant communal clash.

He earned more than 10 meritorious service entries and the Chief Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation during 1998.

During his service in the Crime Branch CID as Inspector, he arrested two associates (Kuppusamy and Ganapathiappan) of forest brigand Veerappan who were evading the police net for about 16 years in the forester Chidambaram murder case.
