The Coimbatore Medical College Hospital has planned year-long celebrations to mark its Golden Jubilee.

Golden Jubilee celebrations committee office-bearers G. Ravindran, and Aravindan told reporters here that the celebrations will begin on February 12.

Conferences and workshops on various subjects will be held. Fifty major surgeries will be telecast live for the benefit of students. An alumni meeting will be held on September.

Competitions, and family get-together of doctors too have been planned. A corpus fund will be created to help students from the economically weaker sections of society.

The Coimbatore Medical College started in 1966 has so far produced 50 batches of doctors. Fifteen teams were involved in finalising the events, they said. On January 31 a rally will be organised to create awareness on the Golden Jubilee.
