Civic body warns against dumping debris

Coimbatore Corporation has warned people against dumping debris on tank bunds, at public places and other unauthorised locations.

In a release, the civic body said that it had come to the civic body's notice that the city residents were dumping construction debris on tank bunds, storm water drains, alongside roads and other unauthorised places. Doing so was illegal.

The residents should dump debris only at places the Corporation had authorised. Those who were found violating the rules would be fined Rs. 25,000. They would also have to face the legal consequences.

The civic body was issuing the instruction as per the provision of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, Environment Protection Act and Municipal Solid Waste (Handling and Management) Rules, it said.
