In her complaint, Ms. Loganathan had stated that towards the end of the Corporation’s Budget Meeting on Thursday, AIADMK councillors manhandled her, pushed her out of the Council Hall and assaulted her.
The Councillors include V. Annammal (Ward 22), K. Gomathi (Ward 78), S.R. Arjunan alias Gopalakrishnan (Ward 28), Venthamarai Balu (Ward 44), E. Senthil (Ward 21), K. Arjunan (Ward 85) and a few others.

In the complaint filed by Ms. Annammal, she had stated that DMK Councillors Ms. Loganathan and M. Ravindiraraj and Congress Councillor R. Gayathri had assaulted her and a few other councillors. The police have registered two cases in this connection.
Meanwhile, the DMK has planned to hold a demonstration in Gandhipuram on Saturday to protest against the treatment meted out to the woman councillors.
Ms. Loganathan said that the protest would be held in Gandhipuram, in front of Hotel Tamil Nadu, at 4 p.m.
Councillors clashed outside the Corporation Council Hall on Thursday soon after Finance and Taxation Committee Chairman R. Prabhakaran presented the Budget.
The DMK Councillors sought a day’s time to study the Budget to prepare for the debate.
Mayor S.M. Velusamy thought otherwise and said that the Budget discussion would be held the same day — Thursday at 3.30 p.m. This triggered the protest that later resulted in the AIADMK Councillors assaulting Ms. Loganathan.
