The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched a networking platform for career women, professionals and entrepreneurs. A road show and session on “21 century –a new paradigm for career women” was held in Coimbatore on Monday.

Suchitra K. Ella, chairwoman of the Indian Women Network (IWN) Southern Region, spoke at the meeting about the need for such a platform and its objectives. She said that the network would focus on three main verticals – learning and development, health and well-being and policy and advocacy.

The CII had organised similar road shows on the IWN in Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Tiruchi, Chennai, Puducherry, Vijayawada, and Vishakapatnam. Entrepreneurs, professionals, and students could become members of IWN.

Uma Kannan, chairperson of the IWN – Tamil Nadu, said that the network would organise leadership development programmes, health camps, awareness programmes, and study the best practices in companies in the State. According to R. Nandini, Managing Director of Chandra Textiles, the network can provide the necessary support system to women professionals and entrepreneurs for a better work-life balance. It was one of the important requirements for working women.
