With a view to ensuring the quality of drinking water being supplied, the Corporation has equipped its sanitary inspectors, water supply engineers and five health officers with ‘chloroscope’ meters that could ensure detection of chlorine level in the water even in tail-end areas of distribution.
Mayor R. Venkatachalam, Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra and Deputy Mayor N. Karthik gave away 40 chloroscope meters to the field staff. Thirty-three sanitary inspectors have been provided with one chloroscope each besides five to health officers and one to Assistant Corporation Health Officer R. Sumathi.
The chloroscope could be used in any area of water distribution to assess the chlorine level and water quality instantly. Ensuring chlorine level and quantity of water is paramount and the work of water supply distribution does not end with just providing the quantity.
