Dozens of aggrieved investors in a chit fund here have petitioned the district administration asking them to ensure the return of their initial investment.
A delegation led by T. Jothi Mani submitted the petition during the grievances redress meeting held at the Collectorate on Monday.
According to the petitioners, the chit fund was run by a couple at Kavundampalayam here and collected between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 2.5 lakh from the investors.
Recently, they closed the chit fund and had delayed the payments to the investors, the petition said.
As many had invested their entire life savings in the chit fund, the petitioners urged the administration to ensure the return of their investments.
Tasmac outlet
Residents of Vishwanathapuram in Thudiyalur have petitioned the district administration to relocate a liquor outlet from the locality as it was situated in vicinity of a hospital, primary school, and several residential apartments.
In the petition, the residents’ welfare associations of Rukkumani Colony, Thiru Nagar, and Valarmathi Nagar said that liquor outlet was causing immense hardship in the area.
Members of the Revolutionary Youth Association submitted a petition asking the district administration to implement a Madras High Court directive to remove certain liquor outlets.
Cobblers’ demand
The Dr. Ambedkar Badhani Thayaripalarkal Nalasangam has urged the district administration to allot a shed for cobblers.
In a petition submitted to the district administration during the grievances redress meeting on Monday, the association said that many cobblers had taken up the profession because of lack of awareness. They now wanted to educate their children.
‘Parking denied’
Tamil Pulikal has submitted a petition to the district administration stating that eight autorickshaw drivers were being denied parking at a stand in Karamadai allegedly because they belonged to the arundadhiyar community.
They asked the district administration to ensure justice to the drivers.
