Caution against pollution on Bogi

Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) and District Collector have exhorted the people to refrain from burning old materials on January 13 (Bogi day) as that could cause air pollution.

District Collector Archana Patnaik said that burning of old tyres, mats, plastic materials and rubber products caused air pollution besides causing breathing problems.High Court has banned burning of any item except old wood and dry cow dung. Hence, the Collector exhorted people to refrain from acts that could cause pollution.
