Cases against six on charge of assault

Cases of rioting, trespassing, and unlawful assembly have been registered against six individuals on Wednesday after they assaulted four persons at Kumarapalayam.

The police said, Selvaraj, Karthik and four others armed themselves with iron rods, sticks, and stones, barged into the house of Kandhasamy (36), on April 11 and assaulted him and his brothers.

All of them have been admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. The Sulur Police are on the look out for the six accused.

Aged woman killed

A pedestrian was fatally run over by a car on Wednesday at Nadupuni-Pollachi Road near Aiswarya Nagar.

The police said S. Ambigapathy (60), was walking along the road when a car knocked her down. She died at a hospital.

Assaulted

A TNSTC bus conductor was assaulted by a passenger at Aliyar on Wednesday.

The police said that E. Chelladurai (53), a TNSTC bus conductor, had halted the bus and left for lunch. N. Ramar (45), who was reportedly drunk, picked up a quarrel with him and assaulted him. Ramar has been arrested.

Woman found dead

A 28-year-old woman from K.K. Pudur committed suicide on Thursday.

The police said, the woman had married two years ago and had become pregnant a few months back. She had to undergo an abortion.

The police suspect this might have been the cause for her to commit suicide.
