Carmel Garden school in Coimbatore honours 15 alumni

Carmel Garden Matriculation School in the city organised a function to honour its alumni with the Jewel of Carmel award recently.

District Collector M. Karunakaran presided over the function and gave away the award to 15 former students of the school.

The award was being given to the past students of the school for excelling in their profession in various fields. They included entrepreneurs, industrialists, doctors and social welfare activists.

It was also to motivate the present students to reach great heights, D. Nandakumar, president of the alumni association of the school, said in his introductory address.

In his presidential address, the Collector congratulated all the recipients of the award and underlined the role of a school in shaping the future of the students.

Every student would have individual talents in various fields such as music, oratory or sports, and it was the duty of the teachers to identify and promote these.

He complimented the school for producing eminent personalities in various fields in Coimbatore.

The recipients of the award were C. Ravi Selvan of Gem Group, Rev. Fr. Andrew, architect Bhuvana Sundar, Srinath Jagannath of Lucial Technologie and Solution, B. Sri Ramulu of K.G. Denim), neurologist Rajmohan, S. Balasubramanian of Swaminathan Associates, Sridhar Varadharaj of Premier Evolving, lawyer Ganeshkumar, Assistant Commissioner of Income-Tax Arun Angusamy, Jagadish Chandran of JVM Network, A. Senthil of Bannari Amman Spinning Mills, A. Senthil Kumar (Senthil Group of Companies), Vikram Mohan of Pricol, and C.R. Anantha Krishnan of KPR Mills.

Principal of the School Rev. Fr. Maria Joseph and T. Rajkumar, vice-president of the alumni association, spoke.
