Students and members of various organisations took out the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial candlelight walk here on Sunday.

The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is one of the largest grassroots level movements against HIV and AIDS, spreading hope, developing leaders, and uniting communities.

Dhanvantri College of Nursing organised the event to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses, to support those living with HIV and affected by its impact, besides stressing on the need to enhance the level of awareness among people.

Members of various organisations also participated. Lions International District Governor D. Shanmugan inaugurated the event.

The participants of the programme also took a pledge to spread awareness among the people and provide support to persons living with HIV/AIDS.

College Chairman N. Ganapathi, G. Nagarajan and members of various organisations were present at the programme.
