The process of inserting the sheet containing the candidates names in the ballot units began at the Government College of Technology on Saturday. According to sources, district officials in charge of elections carried out the process, ‘candidates setting’ in the presence of candidates or their representatives.
The officials had arranged the candidates name by giving priority to representatives of recognised national parties, recognised state parties, registered parties and independents. And, arranging names in the Tamil alphabetical order within each grouping.
The officials said that the process was going on in all the Assembly segments in the district with technical assistance from engineers from the Bharat Electronics Limited. Once the candidates setting process was complete, the machines would be kept in the strong room to be taken out on the day of election.
A set consists of two ballot units and a control unit.
