The Erode chapter of Young Indians in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched a campaign to create awareness on the importance of water conservation on Tuesday.
The campaign was launched to mark the World Environment Day. Collector C. Kamaraj released a poster of the campaign on his office premises.
Members of the CII and the Young Indians had planned to conduct a series of awareness programmes as a part of the campaign urging the people to save water.
A large number of people in the country do not have access to clean water. “Given the impending water crisis it is important that we conserve every drop of water,” organisers said.
The campaign aims to improve the efficiency of use of water, and reduce losses and waste. It will encourage people to adopt effective methods to conserve water.
Members said that they would also work on improving access to clean water.
The CII, Erode Zone Chairman, Dr. Abul Hasan, Young Indians Erode Chapter Chair V.P.S. Radhakrishnan, Chair (Environment) R.R. Sathiyamoorthy, and Co-Chair (Environment) V. Thirunavukkarasu, senior officials and members of CII and Young Indians were present.
