With the process of filing nominations for the Lok Sabha elections beginning, political parties here are devising new techniques to reach the voters, besides sticking to time-tested ways.

Though door-to-door campaign is the order of the day, the campaign managers are not leaving any new opportunity that comes on their way to woo voters.

The focus is on projecting the party symbols. AIADMK women’s wing has come out with a novel idea for the purpose – decorate their palms with party symbol.

The notable shift in style of campaigning is that unlike earlier elections, promises are not pouring out thick and fast. Candidates, instead, try hard to highlight the weaknesses of their opponents.

The District Collector, P. Sankar, has said that April 24 will be a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments’ Act.
