Call taxi driver hacked to death near Coimbatore

S. Rajendran, 42, a call taxi driver and resident of Bharathi Nagar, off Mettupalayam Road, was found dead with cut injuries in Periyanaickenpalayam police station limits on Sunday morning.

According to the police, the injuries suggested that Rajendran was hacked to death. His body was found in Kural Nagar, on the Thirumalainaickenpalayam-Perur Road. Passersby had alerted the police.

Periyanaickenpalayam Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan and police rushed to the spot.

The police said that the accused had trailed Rajendran for quite a while, intercepted his vehicle at a secluded spot and then hacked him to death.

Rajendran’s mobile phone and taxi were not far from where his body was. The police suspect that the murder could be due to issues related to financial transaction. The police have registered a case in this connection.

Rajendran is survived by wife Kousalya and sons Rahul and Vishal.
