Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses resumed normal services on Wednesday after employee unions gave up the strike. Around 40 % of the buses, that were halted for two days, started plying in the morning and remaining 60 % were out on the roads by noon.

Representatives of opposition unions claimed success of the strike stating that Government was forced to release funds and accept some of the demands.

“Employees, who were supporting the strike, was asked to report for duty on Wednesday morning based on direction from union representatives from Chennai. The strike was success,” said Abdul Rasheed, vice president of employees union affiliated with CITU, Coimbatore. Services to Udhagamandam, which was badly hit due to high tourist flow ahead of flower show and summer festival, resumed early on Wednesday. TNSTC was forced to conduct services to Udhagamandalam by appointing private drivers.

State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) restarted long distance and interstate services from Thiruvalluvar Bus Stand. This included services to Karnataka and Kerala. Services to Palakkad from Ukkadam Bus Stand that were suspended for two days also resumed from Wednesday morning.

TNSTC officials at Gandhipuram City Bus Stand said that services to all routes were functional by 11 a.m. Private buses and vans that were operating on no-permit routes stopped service on Wednesday. More than 30 private buses from other routes had operated in the city on Monday and Tuesday.
