Bridge across River South Pennar to become a reality

State Government sanctions Rs. 3.95-crore

The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 3.95-crore for the construction of a bridge across River South Pennar to Thorappalli, K.P. Munusamy, Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, said here on Saturday.

Speaking at a function organised by the Information and Public Relations Department to commemorate the 133rd birth anniversary of C. Rajagopalachari, the last Governor-General of Independent India, at his residence at Thorappalli village, 10 km from Hosur, the Minister said that the Chief Minister has announced a slew of development schemes for the village.

A park and a welcome arch at the entrance of the Thorappalli village on Royakottai Road would be established in the district soon.

Earlier, the Minister garlanded the bronze bust of statesman Rajaji.

Mr. Munusamy distributed welfare assistance through Social Welfare, Revenue and Forest Departments to the tune of Rs. 2 crore to 158 beneficiaries.

The farmers and women self-help groups were also given Rs. 25 lakh for self employment by the Forest Department. Collector C.N. Maheshwaran presided over the function. District Revenue Officer C. Prakasam, Hosur Sub Collector Sandeep Nanduri, District Forest Officer A.K. Ulaganathan, Uthangarai MLA Manoranjitham Nagarajan and other officials participated.

Visually challenged women and children recited the invocation song and National Anthem as per the Minister's instruction. Public Relations Officer T. Manoharan welcomed the gathering.
