R. Dinesh (19) was arrested on the charge of raping a 15-year-old Scheduled Castes girl.
The police said that Dinesh and the girl were school mates. He dropped out of school after Standard IX, and the girl discontinued the studies after Standard VIII.
Dinesh allegedly came to the girl’s residence when her parents were away, and had sexual relationship with her. Subsequently when the girl became pregnant, Dinesh, who belongs to a Most Backward Community, refused to marry her since she is Scheduled Castes.
Then she filed a complaint against Dinesh.
The All Women Police Station at Perur registered a case on Sunday and invoked Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and SC/ST (Ordinance) Amendment Act. Further investigations are on.
