The body of Mubina, a three-and-a-half-year-old girl reported missing from near Palladam on Saturday late evening, was found from the house in the same residential block in which the girl’s family resides.

The father of the girl, Mehaboob Khan, is employed as a construction worker and hails from Thiruvannamalai, and their family was staying in one of the many houses situated in a line in a single residential complex. Police said a 19-year-old tailor, who works in a knitting company and staying in the house from which the body was recovered, had been taken into the custody for questioning.

On whether the girl was sexually abused as alleged by relatives and people in the neighbourhood, police officials said that it would be revealed only after the autopsy was completed at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
