The body of a 47-year-old Joint Secretary of a private self financing arts and science college in Coimbatore was found floating in Kalingarayan canal near Mannadampalayam, about 35 km from here, police said on Monday.
Police said the body of K.M. Elangoavan, who is also a turmeric merchant here, was found with stab injuries yesterday.
Police said Mr. Elangovan, who was residing at Coimbatore with his family, came to him farm house at Kumarasamy Guoundenpalayam near here on Saturday.
When his servant came to the house on Sunday, he noticed some blood stains in the house and Mr. Elangovan and his jeep were missing. He informed the relatives of Mr. Elangovan residing in the area, who in turn informed the police.
Police traced the jeep near Avinashi near Coimbatore.
Later they found Mr. Elangovan’s body floating in Kalingarayan canal.
